Billy Reeves here. I’m delighted to say in this edition I get to spend some time with TRICKY. His album Mixed Race is out soon on Domino so herein I get to go through the collaborators, his new base in Paris and whether or not he’ll work with Massive Attack again. Tricky’s in competitive mode, the L.P. is probably the most accessible he’s ever made and this is reflected in his jolly mood!

 

So, a couple of foot-tappers from Tricky then, PLUS two from Domino’s MERCURY PRIZE NOMINEES Villagers and Wild Beasts, then there’s L.A’s Chief (couldn’t resist slipping in two Chief tunes from their delightful album Modern Rituals) and for those, like me looking for a group that combine the naïf of Galaxie 500 with the invention of Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac, here’s new bugs Twin Sister.

Jon Hopkins’ remix project continues: this time Four Tet returns the compliment by rethinking Jon’s track Vessel. We’re gearing up to introduce you to Chief, the gorgeous sound of young beardy L.A. - a band which will make you fall in love with chiming guitars and harmonies again. Hot Chip are part of the remix crew on the new single from The Beta Band’s Steve Mason. These New Puritans successfully attempt to put Steve Reich’s entire career into a 2-and-a-half-minute pop single. And Lightspeed Champion releases, by popular demand, the mighty waltz I Don’t Want To Wake Up Alone as a single. And you HEAR can all that HERE, for NOWT! GRATIS! ZERO OF YOUR EARTH DOLLARS!
